Sport Climbing Trophy
Winter 2024 | Ceramic Slip Casting
This trophy was designed for the Sport Climbing category at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The form is inspired by the stacked, angular volumes that climbers race up during competition. I designed the model in Rhino, then 3D printed it to create a mold for slip casting—a ceramic process where liquid clay (slip) is poured into a plaster mold, forming a hollow shell as the plaster absorbs moisture. Once dried and fired, the ceramic form captures clean, repeatable geometry. To complete the piece, a fiber laser-cut badge was added to the base, featuring engraved sport-specific details. The result is a functional and symbolic piece that reflects both the physicality and structure of competitive climbing.
