This project presents a U-shaped shower support system designed specifically for dementia patients in nursing-home environments. Developed over a full semester, the design is informed by in-depth research into dementia, mobility limitations, and assisted bathing routines, with a focus on creating a system that feels intuitive, predictable, and reassuring for both residents and caregivers.

The 1000 millimetre tall structure provides a continuous path of support as users enter, move within, and exit the shower, positioning grip points within natural reach between control access and sit-to-stand height. The U-shaped frame distributes force across multiple anchor points for increased strength while remaining outside required shower clearance zones. Adjustable horizontal bars slide along vertical rails using a simple pin-based mechanism, and folding side handles provide adaptable lateral support across a range of users and care scenarios.
