Colourwise Cubes
Colourwise Cubes is a conceptual toy design project that explores the intersection of play, art, and inclusive design. Drawing inspiration from Raduga Grëz’s natural, handcrafted toy philosophy alongside Montessori and Waldorf educational principles, the project reimagines children’s building blocks as sculptural objects that encourage open-ended play, creativity, and tactile learning. Influenced by Joseph Albers’ Homage to the Square, the forms and palettes treat colour and shape as both educational tools and visual expression. Designed with colourblind accessibility in mind, the cubes incorporate carefully considered palettes, engraved colour cues, and non-toxic finishes to ensure inclusivity while maintaining a refined, natural aesthetic. Crafted from sustainable materials, the project positions toys as enduring, artful objects that support child-centered learning and thoughtfully integrate into the home.
